Guardians (Warforged, p31 Eberron Player’s Guide): Guardians are a race of sentient, golem-like creatures. Constructed out of a strange, metallic rock-like substance, they are powerful, imposing creatures that look like living statues. Though many look like stone versions of the other humanoid races, others do not, possessing characteristics that look more gargoyles or other figures. There are even larger creatures, some as large as several houses, that share some of the traits of the smaller, human-sized guardians, but it is unknown if they have any connection other then appearance. Guardians can be found in small family units, commonly running outposts, trading dens, and other scattered points of light in the wilderness. Loyal to a fault, they also attach themselves to individuals and parties who do them a great deed or boon, and will take them into their extended family, latching on like a protective father figure. Their most prized item is a strange, pinkish colored stone called a heartstone. Though it’s properties are unknown, it is apparently a required element for creating their children, and it is not uncommon to find a wandering guardian pair examining mountains, mines, and other ancient sites looking for the precious stone.
